Biography
Victoria Loukianetz was born in the Ukrainian city of Kiev and started her musical education at the early age of five with
piano lessons. She began to study voice at the age of 14 and went on to complete her degree in vocal performance at the Kiev
Conservatory of Music in 1989. In the same year she began her professional career at the Kiev National Opera, making her debut
as Marfa in Rimsky-Korsakov's "The Tsar's Bride". She made her debut in the same role at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1993.
In 1990 she won first prize at the "Min-On" international singer competition in Tokyo and at the international "Mozart Competition" in Vienna. In 1991 she was awarded first prize at the international "Maria Callas - Competition" in Athens. Debuts in Italy, France, Portugal, Japan and Greece followed. In 1993 she had her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Queen of the night in Mozart's "The magic flute" and became a favourite of Viennese audiences and has been a permanent member of the company until the year 2000. At the Vienna State Opera she sung Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La Traviata), Oscar (Ballo in maschera), Adina (L'Elisir d'amore), Linda di Chamounix, Lucia di Lammermoor, Elvira (I Puritani), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Ophèlie (Hamlet), Olympia (Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Musetta (La Bohème) and Berthe in a new production of Meyerbeer's "Le Prophète" with Placido Domingo and Agnes Baltsa. Victoria Loukianetz is a regular guest at the main opera-houses and international festivals, such as: Metropolitan Opera New York (La Traviata), Scala di Milano (The magic flute, Lucia die Lammermoor), Covent Garden London (La Traviata, Rigoletto, Il Corsaro), Opéra Bastille Paris (La Traviata), Salzburg Festival (La Traviata, Don Giovanni), Tokyo (Licia di Lammermoor, La Traviata, L'Elisir d'amore, Ballo in maschera), Bayerische Staatsoper München (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Hamburgische Staatsoper (L'Elisir d'amore), Deutsche Oper Berlin (Médée, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Traviata), Aaltotheater Essen (Ariadne auf Naxos), Grand Théâtre de Genève (Rigoletto), New Israeli Opera (La Traviata), Triest (Ginevra di Scozia).and Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège (Don Pasquale, Rigoletto). Most successful were her last appearences in the Mozart-Cantata under Mo. N. Harnoncourt in the Vienna Musikverein, as Rosaura in Wolf-Ferrari's "La vedova scaltra" in the Opera of Nice, as Bèrthe in Meyerbeer's "Le Prophète" and as Violetta in "La Traviata" in Buenos Aires. Further commitments include Elettra in Mozart's "Idomeneo" at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Marie in Zimmermann's "Die Soldaten" at the New National Theatre Tokyo. Victoria Loukianetz is documented on several CDs (Mozart's "C-Moll-Mass" and Haydns "Nelson Mass", Myslivecek's "Abramo ed Isacco", Russian Arias) and on DVD ("L'Elisir d'amore" in Tokyo). 1994
